U.S. Army Communications Electronics Research and Development Engineering Center Flight Activity
CERDEC Flight Activity, located on Lakehurst, performs research and development flight testing for sensor payloads for communication, navigation, aircraft survivability, and intelligence gathering systems. CFA operates fixed wing, helicopters and Unmanned Aircraft System platforms from Joint Base McGuire-Dix-Lakehurst and conducts flight operations continental United States and outside the continental United States, in support of the Warfighter. CERDEC Flight Activity also performs pre-deployment modifications on all new UH-60M Blackhawks prior to fielding. This unit’s heritage can be traced back to 1918, when the Army Air Corps first tested radios for air to ground communications and operated out of Greely Field, Fort Monmouth, N.J.
