DRIVING DIRECTIONS

From San Antonio International Airport

If you drive from the airport, take Loop 410 west to the Valley Hi/Lackland AFB exit. Turn left on Valley Hi Drive and continue straight to the Airman’s Gate.

CHECK-IN PROCEDURES

Once arriving at Lackland, report to your commander’s support staff to sign in. There you will receive a schedule of required inprocessing appointments, including the date you are to attend the Newcomers Orientation briefing. Important documents to hand carry include at least 15 copies of your orders; copies of all insurance policies; immunization records for all children and pets; school records for children and high school and college transcripts for adults; certified copies of birth certificates, adoption papers, marriage licenses, divorce papers, etc.; Social Security cards; purchase agreements for your vehicles, showing state sales tax paid; vehicle registrations and titles; and current driver’s licenses.

Newcomers Orientation

The Newcomers Orientation briefing is mandatory (except for first term airmen). During the orientation, you will turn in your medical and dental records. A number of mandatory briefings will be completed that day.

First Term Airmen

All first-term airmen must attend the First Term Airman Center for five days of orientations and briefings. They are not required to attend Newcomers Orientation. Each first-term airman should wear the uniform of the day and bring at least five copies of orders.
