San Antonio Living in San Antonio and South Texas

Rich culture comes alive through history, art, architecture, music and beautiful outdoor spaces that showcase a blend of Mexican-American folklore, Spanish heritage and Texas pride. San Antonio’s abundant art scene, sports, shopping, cultural attractions and festivals provide plenty of entertainment opportunities. Take a ride on a River Walk boat taxi, or thrill at a fast break and dunk during a San Antonio Spurs professional basketball game. Don’t miss Ballet San Antonio’s annual performance of “The Nutcracker,” then shine your cowboy boots for the San Antonio Stock Show & Rodeo. And remember to check out the Alamo.

Residents of San Antonio enjoy a variety of annual events, festivals and community gatherings.

Fiesta San Antonio

One of the largest festivals in the United States, Fiesta San Antonio takes place every April in honor of the heroes of the Alamo and the Battle of San Jacinto. Fiesta San Antonio is full of music, parades, exhibits, pageants, food and so much more.

H-E-B Big League Weekend

Big League Weekend turns the Alamodome into a baseball field complete with turf, dugouts, bullpens and of course a two-game Major League Baseball exhibition. After each game, enjoy a concert in centerfield and stop by the Sports Collectible Show.

Held every fall for two nights, Luminaria has become a platform for international and local artists to show off their pieces that highlight the heritage of San Antonio.

Native American Indian Championship Pow Wow

Dozens of tribes from across the United States gather to celebrate and share their culture. Witness the vibrant tribal dance contest, the arts and crafts show and authentic Native American food.

Poteet Strawberry Festival

Just 25 miles from San Antonio, the Poteet Strawberry Festival every spring features local strawberry growers and their prized yet now endangered produce — strawberries. The festival boasts more than strawberries though, with a rodeo, musical performances, carnival rides and more.

Tamales at the Pearl

Held every December, Tamales at the Pearl has become a celebration of culture, family, food and fun. This free event features live music and performances, activities for kids and, of course, more than 40 tamale vendors.
