Veterans in Pulaski and Lonoke counties are served within Veterans Integrated Service Network 16 (VISN 16) — the South Central VA Health Care Network, with the nearest major medical center in North Little Rock, less than 30 minutes from Little Rock Air Force Base. VISN 16 serves more than 450,000 veterans each year with eight medical centers and 61 community-based outpatient clinics located throughout Arkansas, Louisiana, Mississippi and portions of Texas, Missouri, Alabama, Oklahoma and Florida. The closest community outpatient clinic is in El Dorado.

The Eugene J. Towbin Healthcare Center and John L. McClellan Memorial Veterans Hospital offer a broad spectrum of inpatient and outpatient health care services, ranging from disease prevention to primary care, complex surgical procedures and extended rehabilitative care. This system serves as a teaching facility for more than 1,500 students and residents enrolled in more than 65 education programs; its principal affiliate is the University of Arkansas for Medical Sciences.
