The Malmstrom Commissary has more than 13,000 line items to choose from with savings up to 30 percent. The facility has five full-service registers and five self-checkout registers.
Special features include a bakery, delicatessen, sushi bar, produce, meat, chilled and frozen food sections, as well as weekly specials. Manager specials are offered weekly at an even greater savings. The bakery offers fresh-baked doughnuts, pastries, cakes and other items, along with custom-decorated cakes for special occasions. The deli offers custom-sliced meats and cheeses, along with salads, sandwiches and paninis. The produce area offers more than 250 different items with savings up to 40 percent. It also offers a wide choice of organic fruits and vegetables. The meat department offers savings up to 40 percent and features the highest quality pork and seafood, as well as choice and select beef and fresh chicken. Special request orders are gladly accepted in all departments.
Semiannual case lot sales are held in May and September for great buys on select items.
The commissary is adjacent to the chapel between Fifth Street and Avenue C. The commissary is open 9 a.m. – 7 p.m. Tuesday, Wednesday, Friday and Saturday; 9 a.m. – 8 p.m. Thursday; and 10 a.m. – 6 p.m. Sunday. It is closed Monday and holidays. Early-bird shopping for 15 items or less is available 7-9 a.m. Tuesday through Saturday for all patrons. In addition, early-bird shopping is available on Sunday starting at 9:30 a.m. for disabled patrons and can be accessed through the exit door closest to the main entrance.
The commissary offers a shopping cart designed specifically for special-needs children. The cart, called Caroline’s Cart, makes it easier for a shopper to push just one cart instead of either a wheelchair or stroller and a shopping cart. The cart is behind the registers and is available on a first-come, first-served basis. Questions can be directed to the customer service desk.
The Exchange is a full-service store that carries discount clothing, housewares, gift items, special orders and seasonal items, as well as small appliances, stereos and televisions. Check-cashing service, Western Union, and fishing and hunting licenses are also available. Hours are 9 a.m. – 7 p.m. Monday through Sunday; holiday hours may vary. A 24-hour filling station is available in the parking lot.
EXPRESS AND CLASS SIX
The Express is a convenience store connected to the Exchange offering a wide variety of food and beverages, a full Class Six, health and beauty aids, cleaning supplies, pet supplies and periodicals. The Military Clothing Sales store is in the Exchange. The store is open to meet all your military clothing needs, including alterations, 9 a.m. – 6 p.m. Monday through Friday. It is closed Saturday and Sunday.
Located in the Exchange complex, Subway is open 7 a.m. – 8 p.m. Monday through Saturday and 8 a.m. – 7 p.m. Sunday.
Also in the Exchange complex, Popeyes is open 10:30 a.m. – 7 p.m. Monday through Friday, 11 a.m. – 7 p.m. Saturday and 11 a.m. – 6 p.m. Sunday.
Burger King is in Building 695, close to the dormitories. It offers fast food and other selections in the restaurant or you can use the convenient drive-up window. Hours are 6:30 a.m. – 6:30 p.m. Monday through Friday and 9 a.m. – 2:30 p.m. Saturday. It is closed Sunday and holidays.
The barbershop is in the Exchange complex. Hours are 7 a.m. – 7 p.m. Monday through Friday, 9 a.m. – 7 p.m. Saturday and 9 a.m. – 6 p.m. Sunday.
1ST LIBERTY FEDERAL CREDIT UNION
The 1st Liberty Federal Credit Union, Building 1028, can help with all your banking needs. 1st Liberty offers a variety of products and services to serve you, such as free checking accounts, new and used car loans, direct deposit, home banking and online bill pay, low-interest loan rates and mortgages.
