Employment opportunities

Employment opportunities in the local area are very limited. No major industry is located within 30 miles of site or the of Mountain Home. The state of Idaho ranks 44th in the United States for wages, all jobs are very well sought after and you may have to take a lesser job to start with. Employment prospects are better in Boise than in Mountain Home, however Boise is located 50 miles from the base and the commute can be difficult.

Non-appropriated Funds (NAF) jobs are available on base but are very limited. For information on NAF employment opportunities visit the NAF employment website and do a search for Mountain Home. After reviewing this information, consult the Airman and Family Readiness Center upon arrival at Mountain Home AFB for further information and employment counseling. The unemployment rate in Elmore County is 11%.
