Learn about the Idaho’s history and cultural contributions by visiting any one of the many local museums.

Fort Boise Replica

305 N. Third St.

Parma’s Old Fort Boise, on the eastern edge of Parma, has a replica of Fort Boise, a museum and an authentic pioneer cabin. A RV park, picnic area and campground are available near the park. Private tours can be arranged by calling 208-722-6477. Hours vary by season; check the website for more information.

Idaho Military Museum

4692 W. Harvard St.
Boise, ID 83705

The Idaho Military Museum pays homage to the armed forces and our nation’s heroes with a number of exhibits, including a tribute to Idaho’s Medal of Honor recipients, Air Force and Idaho Air National Guard exhibit, F-4 cockpit simulator and a look at how military rations have changed. Hours are noon to 4 p.m. Tuesday through Saturday.

Lawson’s Emu-Z-Um

Grand View, ID 83624

This former emu ranch near the Snake River in Grand View is now a museum that includes an authentic replica of an early 1860s town, Native American artifacts and the Silver City Schoolhouse Museum. Some of the displays include period clothing, antique farm implements, a hand-built automobile and train station with model trains on display. Hours are 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. Friday through Sunday and by appointment Monday through Thursday, from March to September. Winter visits are by appointment only.

Mountain Home Historical Museum

180 S. Third East
Mountain Home, ID 83647

The Mountain Home Historical Museum hosts a number of events, including the Pioneer Breakfast at Railroad Park and the First Thursday Luncheon where guest speakers from the community talk about what life was like for them growing up, living and working in the area. The museum is open from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. on Tuesday through Friday and Saturday by appointment only.
