SOUTH TEXAS BOTANICAL GARDENS & NATURE CENTER–a182-acre leading South Texas visitor destination–blends unique, colorful floral exhibits with native-habitat trails, mesquite forest and natural wetlands along Oso Creek! Butterfly House, Orchid and Bromeliad Conservatories, large Rose Garden and Pavilion, seasonal Plumeria Garden, plus Sensory, Hummingbird and Arid Gardens lead to a Birding Tower, surfaced trails, Palapa Grande on Gator Lake, Wetland Boardwalk, Oso Creek Loop Trail, and “Monkey Mansion” Tree House in Kids’ Play Area.

With an Environmental Education-driven Mission Statement, the Botanical Gardens offers Saturday morning ADULT CLASSES, monthly “Orchidology” classes, and Wednesday morning Winter Lectures.
YOUTH love KIDS SUMMER NATURE CAMPS, Intercession Camps, student field trips, Scout Nature Badge Program, and Private Animal Encounters.
Major SPECIAL EVENTS include BIG BLOOM Plant Sale; BIRDIEST FESTIVAL; MOONLIGHT in the GARDENS evening fundraiser; and HOLLY-DAYS weekend festivities in December.
The Gardens offers ANNUAL MEMBERSHIPS for singles, couples, families, or grandparents with grandchildren under 18–as well as premium categories with guest passes. (Active Military & age 60+ enjoy 10% off any member category.)
Besides FREE admission to our site for a year, our members also receive FREE admission to 350 other RECIPROCAL botanical gardens or arboreta in the U.S., plus many other benefits and discounts!
Members also have Facility Rental Privileges, for weddings, parties or other private events at our venue, weddings being by far most numerous!
VOLUNTEER OPPORTUNITIES include gardening, help with school field trips and kids’ camps, Animal Care, mowing, and fundraising events, to name a few.
