Outdoor Fields and Courts


Several fields and courts are scattered around the base that are available for commands to use. Commands wishing to reserve court or field space in advance may do so through the base gym.



Six lighted and two nonlighted tennis courts are near the Birmingham gate. Reservations are not required. Two additional lighted tennis courts are at the Visitor’s Quarters on Mustin Road.

Freedom Lanes and Pro Shop


The bowling center is on Gillis Street in Building 609. The facility has 24 lanes with automatic scoring and bumpers for children. Bowling lanes are flush to area flooring, making them easily accessible for children and the young at heart. The center has a large game room with pool tables, arcade games, TVs and lockers.

The center offers open bowling, league bowling and extreme bowling, a high-energy bowling experience with music and lights.

The Gutterball Grill snack bar serves food and alcoholic and nonalcoholic beverages daily.

Other events include daily specials, summer and winter leagues, intramural leagues, young at heart leagues, command functions and birthday parties. The center also features a pro shop with professional fitting and drilling services. Individual and group lessons are available.

Navy Community Recreation
(Tickets and Travel Office)


Navy Community Recreation’s Tickets and Travel Office is in Building 953A next to the Navy Exchange. The program offers discount ticket sales for special events, as well as area attractions, hotel information and cruise booking. Also offered are regional brochures, monthly bus tours on a 24-passenger tour bus and other special services. Active-duty military, retirees, dependents, Department of Defense civilians and all MWR authorized patrons can purchase tickets.

All prices include a surcharge.

Golf Course and Pro Shop


Located in Building 809 on Mustin Road, the NAS Jacksonville Golf Course offers 27 holes of championship golf for all ages and skill levels. The Red and White courses are each a par 36, while the Blue Course is a par 35. The Red and White Course plays to a demanding 6,890 yards, par 72. The addition of the new White Course has added to the landscape of the original Red and Blue courses. The holes wind through beautiful, tree-lined fairways that are complemented with rich-blue ponds. A full practice facility is available, as well as a PGA professional staff to meet every golfer’s need. It is one of the finest golf courses in the Jacksonville area.

Mulberry Cove Marina


Mulberry Cove Marina is on the south end of Ranger Street, along the banks of the beautiful St. Johns River. The marina store offers bait, ice, sandwiches, beer, soda, fishing licenses, fishing tackle, sunglasses, T-shirts, outdoor recreation knives, basic boat parts and various sundries to meet all your boating needs. The marina also has non-ethanol marine grade gasoline pier-side and a free boat ramp.

For boat owners, there are slips, moorings and dry storage available on a daily, monthly and yearly rental basis. Fresh water and 30-amp station power are available at the slips. Live-aboards are only permitted on a temporary basis.

Sailing instruction and safe boating courses are also available. The marina offers rental equipment, including kayaks, canoes, surfboards, stand-up paddleboards and Flying Scot sailboats. Powerboats include pontoon boats, Boston Whalers, 14-foot Trackers and EdgeWater center consoles with fish finders. Reservations for powerboats must be made in person with a $25 deposit.

The marina also rents tents, sleeping pads, cots, camp stoves, lanterns, large grills, coolers and turkey fryers.



Fishing is permitted on the north side of Casa Linda Lake (catch-and-release only) and in the St. Johns River. Fishing is not permitted from the piers at Mulberry Cove Marina. A Florida fishing license is required for anyone age 15 to 65.

Picnic Areas


Several beautiful parks and picnic grounds are scattered across the base. Most are equipped with shelters, restrooms, barbecue pits, ball fields and playground equipment. Reservations are required and can be made up to six months in advance.

Liberty Recreation Center


This high-tech recreation center is in Building 816. It is designed to meet the needs of E-1 through E-6 single Sailors and geographical bachelors living aboard NAS Jacksonville. The Liberty Recreation Center features internet access, Sony PlayStations, Xbox 360s, Wi-Fi, a movie area and a variety of recreational equipment, including pool, pingpong, outdoor basketball and more.

Hours are 10 a.m. to midnight daily. The center is open every day.

Navy Flying Club


The Jax Navy Flying Club (JNFC) is in Building 847A on the north side of the main runway. You must be escorted on your initial visit. JNFC offers courses from private through airline transport pilot, and all training is Federal Aviation Administration Part 141- and VA-approved.

In addition to ground and flight instruction, the club offers aircraft checkouts and rentals, flight reviews, instrument proficiency checks and recurrent training in areas requested by club members. The organization is a sponsored club, and members must be active-duty military, Reservists, National Guard, retired military, dependents, Civil Air Patrol or a Department of Defense employee.
