Virginia Beach has 56 elementary schools, 14 middle schools, 11 high schools and a number of secondary/postsecondary specialty centers, including the Renaissance Academy, Advanced Technology Center, Technical and Career Education Center, and Adult Learning Center. Auxiliaries include the Adult Learning Center, Virginia Beach Central Academy, Open Campus, Advanced Technology Center, Technical and Career Education Center for senior high students, the Center for Effective Learning for middle school students and the Old Donation Center for the Talented and Gifted for elementary students. The area is well-served by private educational resources. There are 90 preschool and kindergarten facilities and more than 60 private primary and secondary schools. There is a diversity of Catholic, Christian and independent schools that welcome your inquiries. Leading college preparatory facilities in the area include Cape Henry Collegiate School (grades pre-K through 12, Virginia Beach) and Norfolk Academy (grades K through 12), which have been recognized as National Blue Ribbon Schools. Other large private schools in the area include Norfolk Christian, Greenbrier Christian, Nansemond-Suffolk Academy, Catholic High, St. Gregory’s, St. Matthews, Hebrew Academy of Tidewater, Friends School and Williams School.
