The NAS Whidbey Island Commissary completed an addition and renovation in April 2004 at a cost of approximately $9.5 million. The total store and receiving area increased from 39,408 square feet to 67,612 square feet.

In September 2007, the Commissary upgraded to a new IBM front end checkout system, providing updated electronic check processing with four self-checkout stations along with 12 registers.

Located opposite the Navy Exchange, the Commissary has newly expanded sections for fresh produce, meat, deli/bakery, sushi bar, rotisserie chicken, freshly made sandwiches and enhanced fresh seafood. The store added the Wellness Center, Wall of Value, which includes Club Packs, Storewide Organics and Diet Sections. DeCA’s most important goal is to preserve and enhance this valuable benefit by providing outstanding customer service and providing quality products at the lowest cost possible.
