The Education Office provides educational opportunities and counseling services to active-duty Air Force members assigned to Nellis and Creech Air Force bases, DOD civilian employees, adult family members and military retirees. The office also provides a wide variety of testing programs. There are four test centers that offer military testing. For a current list of college-level exams offered on base and scheduling instructions, visit the education office.

Five schools are represented on base: the College of Southern Nevada; the University of Oklahoma; Embry-Riddle Aeronautical University; the University of Nevada, Las Vegas; and National University.


Airman & Family Readiness Center

The Airman & Family Readiness Center, a one-stop information and referral center, is the cornerstone of the Nellis family support system, helping airmen and their families enhance their readiness and quality of life.

Programs include relocation services, personal and family readiness, personal financial readiness, personal and work life education, volunteerism, employment assistance, transition assistance and more.

The center serves active-duty military members from all services, Guard and reserve members, retired military members, and DOD civilians and their families. All services are free.

The Child Development Centers offer full-day and hourly care for children 6 weeks to 5 years old. The facilities also offer before- and after-school care, kindergarten care and a part-day preschool enrichment program. The centers provide a safe, nurturing environment that promotes the social, cognitive, language and physical development of youngsters.

Updated registration paperwork (policy letters, referral letter, AF Form 1811, immunizations records and a medical evaluation for special-needs children) will need to be completed, signed and turned into the center your child will be attending. Exceptional Family Member Program

Family Child Care

Family Child Care provides an alternative to Child Development Center care for families that need evening care, weekend care and care for children with special needs, infants and school-age children as well as care during swing and midnight shifts.

The program also offers an opportunity for spouses to contribute to the family income while caring for their own children.

FCC providers are well-trained, certified through the mission support group commander and inspected by Family Child Care professionals.

The school liaison office is the connection between Nellis Air Force Base families and private and public schools. The office provides support to service members during all stages of transition and deployment to ensure children receive every opportunity for quality education.

Nellis’ youth programs offer a spectrum of services and activities for youths 5 to 18 years of age. The youth and teen centers provide space for a variety of classes, social activities, child care and sporting events. The Nellis Air Force Base Office of the Staff Judge Advocate provides legal advice and expertise in the areas of civil law, contract law, labor law, environmental law, claims and military justice for courts-martial and nonjudicial punishment actions. The office also provides legal assistance to individual military members, retirees and family members on personal and civil legal matters, including wills, powers of attorney, notary services, immigration, domestic relations and Servicemembers Civil Relief Act matters.

If you wish to have an attorney prepare a will for you, go to the Air Force Legal Assistance website,, complete the online worksheet, record the ticket number and call the legal office to schedule an appointment.

Arts and Crafts Center

The Arts and Crafts Center combines instructional and self-paced craft making with resale products. Professionals are ready to provide color transfers to T-shirts, mugs and metal. Custom laser engraving on wood, glass, metal and other items, along with custom framing and special plaques, are available in one of the best-equipped facilities in the command. Silk screening and custom embroidery are available as well. Classes are offered for activities such as custom framing and scrapbooking.

The new Community Commons features a computer lab, a video gaming area for ages 18 and older, a kid’s reading area, a multipurpose room for hosting events, and music and dance classrooms.

Fitness Center

The Warrior Fitness Center has more than 110,000 square feet and almost $1 million in new equipment. The center features three basketball courts, an indoor running track, weightlifting and cardio equipment and an indoor swimming pool. The center is Wounded Warrior-friendly and is able to aid disabled veterans to recovery. The center also offers entry during unmanned hours with the Fitness Access Program. Golf Course

Sunrise Vista Golf Course offers 18 holes of championship golf; a 104-foot driving range canopy, which provides golfers cooler temperatures during summer months; a pro shop; and a snack bar.

Rod and Gun Club

The Rod and Gun Club is in Area 2 amidst a beautiful desert landscape overlooking the entire Las Vegas valley. The club boasts 10 full skeet ranges, five trap ranges, a five-stand, a beginners’ trap range and a patterning board for shotgun shooters. The club also has three separate pistol ranges, including an interactive steel pit, and a covered rifle range with targets set out to 1,500 yards. At the clubhouse, there’s indoor and outdoor seating and a covered patio with a cookhouse and barbecue.
