There are no public schools on Patrick Air Force Base. Children living in Patrick housing attend public schools in the Brevard County School District or may attend the private or parochial schools of their family’s choice.

The Airman & Family Readiness Center provides a multitude of services, helping make the transition to life at Patrick Air Force Base easier for all. The center provides individuals, families and leadership with services that strengthen skill sets, creating a better-prepared and better-equipped airman. Additional services include the Airman’s Attic, which provides free household items to E-5 and below; the Loan Locker, which allows new arrivals to borrow household items free of charge; and the Coupon Corner, a service to help lower grocery bills. The Airman & Family Readiness Center should be one of your first stops upon arriving at an installation; its programs and services will be an important resource for you and your family.

Child Development Center

The Child Development Center provides care to children 6 weeks to 5 years old of active-duty military and DOD/NAF civilians, reservists on active duty and DOD contractors. The center is accredited by the National Association for the Education of Young Children. Programs include weekly, full-day, hourly and special needs care. The center participates in the USDA Food Program, and children receive a nutritious breakfast, lunch and snacks throughout the day. Limited spots are available, and fees are on a sliding scale based on annual income. Check with the center for availability.

EFMP-FS (Family Support) Coordinator

The EFMP-FS Coordinator is the information and resource point of contact for EFMP families and assists them in managing the competing demands of the military mission and family. EFMP-FS provides local, state and federal information, guidance and services to support military and other personnel and their family members with special needs; improve family coping skills by fostering competencies; identify gaps in service; and partner with providers to meet the needs of these families. This office can also provide information on several respite care options for EFMP families.

Rest assured knowing your children are in safe keeping in this professional, DOD-certified program for child care in homes. The AF Subsidy Program may help parents pay what they would if their child attended the Child Development Center. Assistance is available for expanded child care during extended work shifts. The Family Child Care staff also trains individuals to provide responsible, safe, in-home care for children 2 weeks to 12 years of age in their government house or affiliated off-base home.

This service supports families with many resources and information to ease the impact of the Air Force and military’s mobile lifestyle. The school liaison officer helps with registration in the local school system, giving points of contact within the school district and community and providing information about each school so the parent can choose the best fit for their child. The officer also helps home-schooled families.

Youth and teens ages 5 to 18 will find plenty to challenge their developing minds and bodies at this popular hangout. Whether it’s seasonal festivals, lock-in parties, field trips, karaoke or dance classes, there’s a full range of activities for youngsters to try. Sports programs include youth basketball, baseball, soccer, taekwondo and cheerleading. Other activities include homework assistance, arts programs, 4-H and Boys & Girls Clubs activities, leadership clubs and more.

Located beachside off state Route A1A, beach cottages are available for three-, four- or seven-day rentals. Reservations are accepted up to one year in advance. The high season is March through September; the low season is October through February. Each house sleeps 10 and includes high-speed internet, TVs with basic cable, washer and dryer, stove and oven, two queen beds and two twin beds, one queen sofa/sleeper, refrigerator, dishwasher, microwave, coffee maker, charcoal grill and central air. No smoking is allowed inside the houses; no pets are allowed on the property.

The Beach House, at 259 Highway A1A, offers water recreation equipment rentals and provides food and beverage service. The deck is available to rent; call the Outdoor Recreation director at 321-494-2042 for more information. Equipment rentals include kayaks, surf boards, boogie boards, beach chairs and umbrellas, surf rods and reels, and beach bikes.

The Campground Office is in the newly renovated campground community center. Campground business will no longer be conducted from the Outdoor Recreation rental facility. Outdoor Recreation offers a 155-site Famcamp on the historic Banana River. All of the sites have full utility hookups. Reservations are accepted from active-duty members only. All other guests are accepted on a first-come, first-serve basis. Call the Famcamp office before travel to get more information and campground rules. Hosts are available for check-in when the office is closed, until 10 nightly. Guests checking in after 10 p.m. are asked to park in the Chevron Park parking area at the campground entrance and to check in the following morning.

Admission is free to all DOD ID cardholders. Pool party rentals are available for Friday and Saturday evenings. Swim lessons are taught by nationally certified instructors and include an introduction to water skills, fundamentals and stroke development.

Manatee Cove Golf Center

Manatee Cove is a scenic 18-hole golf course, par 72, between the Banana River and the Atlantic Ocean. The course covers 260 acres and is shared by many wild animal species. Golf lessons are available upon request.

Outdoor recreation has a complimentary 24-hour lawn equipment for active duty reservists who reside on Patrick AFB. There also complimentary Mobi chairs available at the riverfront rental facility and oceanfront Beach House facility with advance reservation required.

Outdoor Recreation has three picnic areas available for use at no charge for authorized ID card holders. The North Beach picnic area is beachside on state Route A1A north of the main gate. Chevron Park is on the Banana River off Rescue Road just north of Famcamp. The Dockside picnic area is on the waterfront across from Outdoor Recreation and has a deck on the Banana River. In-person reservations are required during normal business hours and are accepted up to 90 days in advance.
