Robins AFB Living in Houston County

There is no shortage of entertaining activities in Houston County — music, sports, theater, museums, parks and shopping. Take in a show at the Warner Robins Little Theatre or tee off at one of the local golf courses. Don’t miss the Georgia National Fair in Perry or the hot air balloon rally at the Dogwood Festival. And be sure to check out the free Museum of Aviation, the Air Force’s second-largest aerospace museum.

ANNUAL EVENTS

Residents of Houston County have dozens of annual events, festivals and community gatherings at their fingertips.

Atlanta Film Festival

Now in its fourth decade, the weeklong fest also features in-person dialogue with stars and filmmakers. Recent guests have included Josh Brolin (“No Country for Old Men”), Eddie Vedder (Pearl Jam) and Margaret Cho (“Drop Dead Diva”). Visit the website for schedules and other information.

Dragon Con

Trekkies, steampunks, zombies, filkers, furries, goths, Klingons, Sleestaks, Predators, Aliens and more descend on downtown Atlanta for the Southeast’s largest sci-fi con taking place over Labor Day weekend. The one Dragon Con must-see is the annual parade along Peachtree Street. Huge crowds line up super early to watch the cosplayers strut up Atlanta’s main thoroughfare.

Georgia National Fair

October’s Georgia National Fair at Perry’s Georgia National Fairgrounds & Agricenter attracts more than 450,000 people each year with its midway rides, exhibits, concerts, livestock shows and fair food.

Inman Park Festival

Taking place the last full weekend in April each year, the Inman Park Festival is one of Atlanta’s most beloved events. Check out the tour of homes, live music, dance festival, arts and crafts market, and the parade with all of its gloriously weird floats.
