The closest commercial flights land at Sacramento International Airport, about 45 miles from base; Oakland International Airport, about 60 miles from base; San Francisco International Airport, about 65 miles from base; or Mineta San Jose International Airport, about 85 miles from base. Transportation is not provided to the base.
Contact your sponsor with your estimated arrival time and flight information if applicable before your arrival at Travis Air Force Base.
Sponsorship is vital to the relocation process. Don’t PCS without talking to your sponsor before departing for Travis Air Force Base. Your sponsor will answer any questions you have about the base and the local area, make lodging or dorm arrangements and meet you upon arrival. Your sponsor will be there to help you and your family until you are settled into your new community.

From Mineta San Jose International Airport
Merge onto U.S. Route 101 for 0.6 miles, then take Exit 388B to merge onto Interstate
880 north and drive 8.2 miles. Take Exit 12A for Mission Boulevard and continue onto Mission Boulevard for 0.9 miles. Merge onto Interstate 680 north via the ramp for Sacramento. Keep left to stay on Interstate 680 north (approximately
58 miles, including toll roads) until Exit 71A. Take Exit 71A toward Interstate 80 east/Sacramento and drive 5.9 miles. Take the Air Base Parkway/Waterman Boulevard exit toward Travis for 4.2 miles.
From Oakland International Airport
Merge onto Interstate 880 north toward downtown Oakland and drive 6.3 miles. Keep right to take Interstate 980 east toward state Route 24/Walnut Creek for 1.4 miles. Merge onto Interstate 580 west toward San Francisco and drive 5.8 miles. Take Interstate 80 east toward Vallejo/Sacramento (portions toll) for 34.1 miles. Take the Air Base Parkway/Waterman Boulevard exit toward Travis for 4.2 miles.
From Sacramento International Airport
Merge onto Interstate 5 north. Merge onto East Main toward state Route 113 south/Woodland and drive 0.7 miles. Merge onto state Route 113 south via the ramp on the left toward Davis and drive 11.1 miles. Take Interstate 80 west for 16 miles. Take the Mason Street exit toward Travis for 0.2 miles. Turn right onto Mason Street and drive 0.3 miles. Turn right onto Peabody Road and drive 5.4 miles. Take the left onto Airbase Parkway and drive 0.25 miles.
From San Francisco International Airport
Take U.S. Route 101 north toward San Francisco and drive 11.6 miles. Keep right to take Interstate 80 east via Exit 433B toward Bay Bridge/Oakland/Seventh Street/U.S. Route
101 north (portions toll) for 46.1 miles. Take the Air Base Parkway/Waterman Boulevard exit toward Travis for 4.2 miles.
From the North
Traveling from the north, take Interstate 5 to Interstate 505, which will intersect with Interstate 80 in Vacaville, just north of Travis.
From the South or Southwest
From Los Angeles and other southwest and southern points, take Interstate 5 or state
Route 99. Take Interstate 5 for 14 miles past Stockton to state Route 12. From there, it is approximately 46 miles to Fairfield. Taking Highway 99, turn off at Lodi onto Highway 12. From Lodi, it is 54 miles to Fairfield. Upon arriving in Fairfield, take Walters Road east to Air Base Parkway.

When you arrive at Travis Air Force Base, report to your assigned unit’s customer support section with your personnel, medical and dental records, a copy of your orders and your duty information to in-process. If you arrive after duty hours or on a weekend or holiday, the 24-hour arrival point is the Westwind Inn lodging office in Building 402.
Newcomers will need to update DEERS, vRED and SGLI at the Military Personnel Flight.

Newcomers’ Orientation is held at the Airman & Family Readiness Center, in Building 660, and the David Grant USAF Medical Center, at 101 Bodin Circle. The orientation is mandatory for all active-duty personnel. Spouses of active-duty personnel and DOD civilian employees may also attend. This orientation will discuss Travis organizations, programs, resources and other information regarding your new assignment.
