Education and Training Center

The education center manages administration of all education and training matters at Travis, with an emphasis in assisting active-duty airmen with educational, professional military education, testing and training needs. The center offers testing services, on-base colleges, and financial assistance resources and information.


Airman & Family Readiness Center

The Airman & Family Readiness Center is a one-stop information and referral center and is the cornerstone of the Travis family support system, helping airmen and their families enhance their readiness and quality of life.

The center serves single and married active-duty military members, retirees and Travis DOD civilians and their family members. Services include information and referral, relocation assistance, the Loan Locker, financial assistance and education, employment assistance, transition assistance, personal and work life services, and school liaison activities.

The child development centers offer weekly care for infants, toddlers and preschool children, and hourly care is available on a space-available basis with reservations. The centers provide a safe, nurturing environment that promotes the social, cognitive, language and physical development of youngsters. The centers are accredited by the National Association for the Education of Young Children.

Children of active-duty military personnel and DOD civilian personnel are eligible. Fees are based on total family income. Registration information is available at

Exceptional Family Member Program

This program provides special-needs families with information and referral services.

Family Child Care

Family Child Care provides an alternative to child development center care for families that need evening or weekend care; care during swing and midnight shifts; and care for infants, school-age children and children with special needs.

The program also offers an opportunity for spouses to contribute to the family income while caring for their own children.

FCC providers are well trained, they and their family members undergo a thorough background check and their homes are inspected for fire safety, health, safety and other requirements. In addition, their homes are monitored on a regular basis by the program staff. Visit the website for more information.

School Liaison

The school liaison is the connection between Travis Air Force Base families and private and public schools. The office provides support to service members during all stages of transition and deployment to ensure children receive every opportunity for quality education.

Youth Programs

Travis Air Force Base Youth Programs (previously known as the Youth Center) is for kids age 5 to 18 years old. It offers a wide variety of activities, including School Age Care, the Open Recreation Program and the Teen Program, as well as extracurricular activities such as sports, classes and clubs. Legal Office

The legal office provides legal assistance and general legal advice to active-duty personnel and dependents and retired personnel on a space-available basis. Services include powers of attorney, notaries, wills and estate planning. Retiree services are provided by appointment only on retiree appreciation days.

The Mitchell Memorial Library offers an extensive collection, including study guides, movies and audio books. Wi-Fi access, public computers, photo and document scanners, 3D printing services, copy and printing services, and fax services are also available. The auto hobby shop has knowledgeable auto technicians who can perform vehicle repairs, as well as space for your DIY needs. The shop has nine indoor stalls, nine outdoor stalls, 11 lifts and a motorcycle lift.

Equestrian Center

Outdoor Recreation is a one-stop shop with a variety of recreational services. Program and services include the Outdoor Adventure Program; Information, Tickets & Tours; an RV park; a bike, ski and snowboard shop; equipment rental; a retail and resale shop; an indoor climbing wall; the Travisville Park pavilion; the aquatic center; long-term parking storage; an equestrian center; an archery, trap and skeet range; and a paintball field.
