History of NSF Beaufort & Naval Hospital Beaufort
NHB was built in 1949 and is the oldest naval hospital building still in active service for patient care. The hospital has an eight-bed inpatient ward, a comprehensive primary care clinic known as Medical Home Port, a full array of ancillary services and several specialty clinics including orthopedics, general surgery, oral surgery, behavioral health, dermatology, audiology, optometry and radiology. We also have several shared service agreements with the VA. Our mobile MRI, Dermatology Clinic and Physical Therapy Clinic are all joint venture initiatives with the VA and serve our military and veteran population.
Additionally, the hospital has two BHCS, one at MCAS Beaufort and one at MCRD Parris Island. These clinics support active duty personnel and maintain operational readiness. Additionally, BHC Parris Island supports the Marine Corps in the making of over 20,000 new Marines each year by providing care to recruits during 13 weeks of boot camp.
