The Corporal Michael J. Crescenz VA Medical Center provides health care to veterans living in America’s fifth-largest metropolitan area, including the city of Philadelphia and six surrounding counties in Southeastern Pennsylvania and Southern New Jersey. The facility is staffed by approximately 2,000 employees and supports 145 acute care beds and a 135-bed Community Living Center.

The center has an operating budget of more than $474 million and focuses on several mission areas: providing health care, conducting medical research, training health care professionals for the future and being prepared to serve in the event of a crisis or emergency. Its principal affiliate is the University of Pennsylvania.

Ocean County

Veterans in Ocean County are served within Veterans Integrated Service Network 2 — the New York/New Jersey Network — and within that, the VA New Jersey Health Care System. The VANJHCS is a consolidated program composed of two main campuses: one in East Orange, the corporate office in Northeastern New Jersey within the greater New York metropolitan area, and one in Lyons, 22 miles to the west of the East Orange Campus. For veterans in Ocean County, the closest community outpatient clinic is in Brick, New Jersey.
