Built in 1926, the Aztec Theatre is the oldest theater in San Antonio and yet new to being a venue for live performances. Ballet San Antonio is a professional ballet company that resides at the Tobin Center for the Performing Arts. Its goal is to enrich and expose the community to the arts by putting on performances in collaboration with the San Antonio Symphony. It has also partnered with the Boys & Girls Clubs of San Antonio. The Magik Theatre is where a child’s imagination can run wild. San Antonio’s only professional children’s theater brings books to life from the classic to contemporary literature. This newly launched company represents a rebirth for opera in the city after the dissolution of the San Antonio Opera in 2012. In its inaugural 2014-15 season, Opera San Antonio presented several productions, including the new “Fantastic Mr. Fox” and the classic “Salome.” The company is a founding resident of the Tobin Center for the Performing Arts. For more than 75 years, this full-time professional symphony has delighted local music enthusiasts with classics and world premieres.
