Child and Youth Programs

Child Development Centers: Child Development Centers provide a safe, healthy learning environment where children 6 weeks to 5 years old can discover, learn and explore the world around them. Open to children of military and DOD families, there are several CDC locations on Joint Base Pearl Harbor-Hickam: Center Drive, Ford Island, Hickam Harbor, Hickam Main, Hickam West, Kids Cove, Peltier, Pier Side and Wahiawa Annex. Accredited by the National Association for the Education of Young Children, CDC staff are certified in CPR and first aid and trained in developmentally appropriate activities for young children. Child Development Homes: This program provides quality child care through a network of certified home providers who live in Joint Base Pearl Harbor-Hickam housing. Home providers offer care for children ages 6 weeks to 12 years and provide developmentally appropriate activities in a home atmosphere. Child care hours are flexible to meet parents’ needs. Youth Programs: School Age facilities provide care for children ages 5 to 12 or in kindergarten through sixth grade. The School Age Care program includes before and/or after school care as well as all day care on non-federal holidays and school days off. In addition, SAC offers week-long camp programs during fall, winter, spring and summer school breaks in conjunction with the schedules of the elementary schools served by SAC facilities. All requests for care for the before school, after school, no schools and camps require a request for care on the waitlist website www.militarychildcare.com.

In addition to the services above, Hourly Care (drop-in care with reservations) is available on a space-available basis with requests up to 30 days in advance. Youth Sports: The MWR Youth Sports and Fitness department strives to provide consistent access to a variety of activities through five core service areas: sports, fitness, health and nutrition, outdoor recreation and motor-skills-development programs. The activities within these programs encourage children to achieve physical, social, cognitive and behavioral health benefits that are fun, developmentally appropriate and all within a safe environment. Programs prepare children to become healthy, responsible citizens within the community. Sports programs for youth ages 3 to 18 include basketball, NFL flag football, soccer, baseball, tennis, gymnastics and Start Smart programs as well as camps and special events. Military and Family Support Center

Joint Base Pearl Harbor-Hickam’s Military and Family Support Center provides services to support sustained mission readiness and strengthen personnel and family competencies to meet the unique challenges of the military lifestyle. Professional services through educational classes and counseling appointments are available for active-duty Navy, Air Force, Reserve, retired personnel, their families and Department of Defense civilians.

MFSC Pearl Harbor is in the Moanalua Navy Services Center, Building 4827, Bougainville Drive, Honolulu. MFSC Hickam is at 655 Vickers Ave., Building 1105, JBPHH. Program and class information is available at https://jbphh.greatlifehawaii.com.

Crisis Response & Counseling provides clinical counseling and crisis response services for various situation facing the military community. It includes Family Advocacy Program and Victim Advocate, Sexual Assault Prevention & Response, New Parent Support and clinical counseling. The Career Support & Retention program supports you and your family at every stage of your military career. It includes Family Employment Readiness, Personal Financial Management, Transition Assistance, Volunteer Program and the Retired Activities Office. Deployment & Readiness provides services to support service members and their families on deployment, PCS and general force and family readiness. Services include Life Skills Education & Personal Development, Deployment Readiness & Support, Relocation Assistance, Ombudsman/Key Spouse Support and the Exceptional Family Member Program. Religious Ministry

Whatever one’s faith, finding a place to worship after a PCS move can be challenging. The Joint Base Pearl Harbor-Hickam chaplains are available to help you find a place of worship and take the next step with you in your spiritual journey. There are a number of opportunities to get plugged into a worshipping community at the installation chapels. In addition to worship services, religious programming is available for people of all ages, including Bible studies, Vacation Bible School, services and social events.
