MASS DEPORTATION BACKLASH OCCURS AS ICE DETAINS VETERAN WITHOUT WARRANT

From the day that Trump started his administration, one of the orders he focused on was the mass deportation of migrants. This was one of Trump's strict immigration policies that is being implemented now. Millions of undocumented migrants are now on the verge of being deported to their countries after being arrested.
In line with this, ICE was involved in arresting all the immigrants, and in just one day, ICE arrested 956 immigrants. According to data, this was the largest single-day arrest announced by Immigration and Customs Enforcement. ICE showed the Fiscal Year 2024 Annual Report to compare and show the average number of daily arrests of noncitizens with criminal convictions.
According to the administration, their goal is " to enforce the U.S. immigration law and preserve public safety and national security by keeping potentially dangerous criminal aliens out of the U.S."
ICE Has Gained Expanded Powers
With the current administration signing new orders, ICE has now gained expanded powers in immigration enforcement, carrying Trump's goals to do the mass deportation of migrants. ICE also has the power to conduct raids in schools, hospitals, churches, parks, domestic violence shelters, protected or not, can now be raided by ICE in the power vested on them.
This raised a question to the community, but here's what we can verify of what ICE can and can't do:

ICE Can Enter Public Areas Without Permission
According to the National Immigration Law Center, anyone can enter an organization's public areas without permission. This includes lobbies, waiting areas, and parking lots. Although they have permission to do this, ICE does not have the authority to question or arrest anyone who is just in the public area.
It would still require a warrant to believe that the person being charged does not have a legal status in the U.S.
ICE Needs a Warrant to Enter Areas That Are Not Open to the Public
Now, ICE cannot prohibit them from going to private areas unless they have a warrant. What we can consider private areas are those areas marked with a private sign. The Fourth Amendment protects the areas where people have a "reasonable expectation of privacy."
In line with this, churches, businesses, hospitals, and clinics cannot be raided unless they can show a warrant.
What ICE Has Been Doing
While Trump confirms mass deportations using the military, according to the Democratic mayor of Newark, New Jersey, Ras J. Baraka, ICE has raided a local business and detained immigrants without a warrant. Along with this, about 10 to 12 ICE agents had also detained a U.S. military veteran, " who suffered the indignity of having the legitimacy of his military documentation questioned," Baraka said.
However, the courts have ruled that ICE is subject to the Constitution's Fourth Amendment prohibition on unreasonable searches and seizures.

Where Would ICE Conduct the Raids
Now that a local store in Newark, New Jersey, has been raided, one of the questions that come into countless minds is, where would ICE conduct the raids to conduct mass deportation? The current administration does not explicitly mention the raids, but the discussion about possible targets is the first to be known in the major metropolitan areas.
Some of the locations considered include the following places: Washington, D.C. area, Denver, Los Angeles, Chicago, and New York.
What's Next for Mass Deportation?
What we currently know about Trump's immigrant policy for mass deportation is that he is sending 1,500 more troops to the border, with the involvement of a helicopter crew and intelligence analysts. In line with this, he also signed an order that cut off access to an app that allowed hundreds of thousands of migrants to enter.
Trump's administration will continue to implement mass deportation and their immigration agenda. Therefore, many arrests will continue to rise.
