The U.S. Department of Defense has unveiled a newly enhanced website specifically designed to help military spouses find career and education resources.
MySECO, which highlights the department’s Spouse Education and Career Opportunities program, provides free guidance to military spouses worldwide and offers comprehensive tools for all stages of career development. The MySECO website is part of the larger Military OneSource arsenal of services.
A More Personalized Experience
In describing the updated MySECO website, department officials said the portal will create a
a more personalized and improved experience for military spouses as they search for employment and education opportunities.
“SECO connects military spouses with benefits and support that help them overcome barriers to employment, such as frequent relocation,” said Patricia “Patty” Montes Barron, deputy assistant secretary of defense for military community and family policy. “MySECO is an important tool for spouses, and we are excited to offer them an easier, faster and more intuitive way to explore their interests, research occupations and search for scholarships, look for schools and find jobs.”
Resources available on the SECO website include information about resume building, training and licensing, career networking and more. The SECO program also offers free career coaching packages six days a week on topics such as freelancing in a gig economy, entering a healthcare career, starting a job in K-12 education, securing a cybersecurity position, transitioning to civilian life, etc.
Spouses can get assistance deciding which coaching program is right for them by using the MySECO live chat feature online or by calling 1 (800) 342-9647.
