Introduction

Welcome to Minot Air Force Base in North Dakota. Minot AFB is the only dual-wing nuclear capable base in the Air Force. The host unit, the 5th Bomb Wing, is one of two B-52H Stratofortress bomber bases in the Air Force. The base's 91st Missile Wing is one of the Air Force's three operational missile units. The 91st Missile Wing operates, maintains, and secures a fleet of Minuteman III Intercontinental Ballistic Missiles. Minot AFB is found in North Dakota's Ward County, just 13 miles north of the city of Minot. The Canadian border is about 50 miles to the north.

Check-in Procedures for Incoming Personnel

Upon arrival, contact your assigned unit and your sponsor for in-processing instructions and information. In-processing services are held in the Welcome Center in the Pride Building on base. You can contact the Welcome Center at 1 (701) 723-2600. Incoming personnel will be scheduled for a newcomer's orientation, which provides briefings about support services at the base. Minot AFB is just 13 miles north of the city of Minot. The city has a population of approximately 47,000 people. Minot offers residents a host of recreational opportunities, outdoor activities, and entertainment. Minot is home to the Roosevelt Park Zoo, the Dakota Territory Air Museum, and the Taube Museum of Art. Minot's North Dakota State Fair Center hosts a number of events, including the state fair, which is the state's largest annual event. Outdoor adventures can be had in the city's parks and trails.
