What Are the National Guard Benefits?

There are many National Guard benefits available to those who serve. These include, but aren’t limited to, the following:

  • Exclusive loans for purchasing a home.
  • Benefits that help Guardsmen pursue education.
  • Life insurance policies as well as benefits toward burial arrangements.
  • Healthcare benefits as well as compensation for disabilities.
  • Your pension.
  • Veteran Readiness and Employment (VR&E) benefits that help you advance your career and develop skills.
  • A sense of pride and self-fulfillment by serving your community, the United States as a whole, and others overseas.

Of course, these benefits come on top of the standard military pay that’s provided for your service. Both the Army National Guard benefits and the Air Force National Guard benefits are identical; however, compensation for the military force is unique.

For the branches of the U.S. military, typical payment methods come from federal funding. The National Guard pay does, too; however, this only applies during certain situations, such as deployment by the President of the United States.

Overall, compensation and benefits typically come from state funding. Because each state is different, National Guard benefits by state for National Guardsmen may vary depending on which state they’re based out of.

Both Tangible and Intangible Benefits Help You

When it comes to important networking statistics everyone should know, 80% of professionals attribute networking to their success. The National Guard is a great opportunity to do so, all while serving in a military capacity.

Joining any military force can be a lifelong career or a stop along the way. Either way, it’s always great to advance your skills and gain connections along the way. Because the National Guard is based out of one’s state, it allows for unique, local networking opportunities while growing one’s self and skillset.

There are also plenty of chances to grow physically, mentally, and spiritually through the process. Military life isn’t for everyone, but at the end of the day, if it suits you, it will force you to overcome adversity and evolve as a human being.

Becoming a National Guardsman isn’t just helping your state, country, or fellow man. You’re also putting forth an investment in yourself from a wide range of angles. The end result is a better citizen for our country and person overall.

Does National Guard Get VA Benefits?

Yes, being in the National Guard will qualify you for VA benefits, but there are several factors that go into how many and what kind of benefits you will receive.

Some of these include your length of service, how you serve, whether or not war is involved, and disabilities resulting from service. These factors will vary from person to person, but either way, National Guard benefits from the VA are available.
