Checking Aboard

Navy staff personnel checking into NSA Mid-South should check in at the NSA Admin Office on the second deck in the Fuqua Building (S-455) during normal work hours (Monday through Friday, 8 a.m. to 4 p.m.). After normal work hours and on weekends, NSA Mid-South personnel should check in at the NSA Mid-South Quarterdeck, Building 455, with the CDO cell phone (901) 282-0338.


Personnel checking into tenant activities should check in with their parent commands during normal work hours. After normal work hours and on weekends, tenant personnel should also check in at the Security Office who will contact the CDO.

Identification Cards

The Personnel Support Activity Detachment, Memphis, ID Card Section, on the first floor of the Community Services  Building (S-456) (901) 874-6419, (901) 874-6421, or (901) 874-6430, issues military identification cards for eligible active duty, reserve and retired personnel, and their family members. The sponsor must be present for signature prior to issuance of ID cards to authorized family members. A power of attorney from the sponsor will also be accepted. Normal customer service hours are Monday through Friday, 8 a.m. to 3 p.m., with extended hours to 5 p.m. on Wednesday.

Personal Property

The Personal Property Shipping Office, located in the Community Services Building (S-456), is open Monday through Friday, 7:30 a.m. to 4 p.m. This office assists incoming and departing personnel and their dependents with shipments, storage, unaccompanied baggage, movement of mobile homes, arrangement of rental trucks and trailers under the DITY Program and assistance with loss and damage claims. Registration Information


Bicycle registration is strongly recommended with Security’s Access Control Branch (Shields Building S-237). Registration can facilitate the return of a bike that is lost or stolen. Bicyclists must comply with all traffic regulations.


The Defense Enrollment Eligibility Reporting System (DEERS/RAPIDS) may be verified through the Personnel Support Activity Detachment, Memphis. When enrolling or deleting dependents from DEERS/RAPIDS, ensure documents such as birth certificates, Social Security cards, marriage certificate, adoption papers, divorce decrees and other applicable documents are provided for verification prior to updating DEERS/RAPIDS. Normal customer service hours are Monday through Friday, 8 a.m. to 3 p.m., with extended hours to 5 p.m. on Wednesday. Any person residing on board NSA Mid-South must register all firearms with the Security Office Armory (Shields Building, S-237), (901) 874-5665. Personnel occupying quarters may keep their firearms in their quarters. Those living in the barracks must place their firearms and ammunition in the Security Office Armory for safekeeping. Information necessary to register firearms with the Security Office includes: type, caliber, manufacturer and serial number.


Motorcycles may be registered at Visitor Control Center (VCC), Building 938, (901) 874-5537. Take the motorcycle to the VCC with valid documentation: ID card, driver’s license, registration, proof that the owners and operators have completed the Motorcycle Defensive Driving Course and proof of insurance. The following protective clothing will be worn when driving motorcycles on base: a DOT approved helmet, full fingered gloves, reflective vest during night-time hours, long pants, long sleeve shirt/jacket, hard-sole shoes covering the ankle, and eye protection consisting of a face shield, goggles or wrap around safety glasses that have side shields.


Brightly colored outer garments with reflective material is highly recommended during daylight hours.

All cats and dogs must be registered with the Veterinary Clinic located at 5907 Savitz Drive. No more than two pets per family are permitted in base housing. Proof of rabies and distemper inoculation and Shelby County licensing is required. Each dog and cat is required to be fitted with a microchip (at owner’s expense) at the time of initial registration or during the first office visit. Farm and wild animals are not permitted. Pets must be kept on a leash or in a fenced backyard. Loose pets will be picked up by Security and impounded.


All personnel assigned to NSA Mid-South are required to register all their vehicles. To do so, stop by the Visitor Control Center in Building 938. Normal hours of operation are Monday through Friday, 7:30 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. Present the vehicle to be registered with valid documentation: ID card, driver’s license, registration and proof of insurance.

Speed Limits

The maximum speed limit aboard the station is 35 miles per hour. Lower speed limits are posted. The speed limit approaching any gate is 15 miles per hour. The speed limit approaching any gate is 15 miles per hour and speed limits in parking lots are posted.
