The staff ride was aimed at building camaraderie and unit cohesion in anticipation of any operational requirement, as well as analyze lessons learned from a historical battle. The tour garnered over 50 participants, allowing 7th Group members to discuss the Battle of New Orleans, visit the historic battlefield, and then lunch at a local restaurant.
Rod Chapman, a military historian with Nunez Community College and liaison to 7th SFG(A) was the event coordinator and guide during the visit.
"These men and women dedicate their lives to America's causes. So, we're proud to host [7th Special Forces Group (Airborne)] and I feel honored to be among them for even just a brief moment," said Chapman. "They make you proud to be an American."
