U.S. Marines from the 1st Battalion, 8th Marines, from Camp Lejeune, North Carolina conducted unmanned aerial vehicle training during exercise Agile Spirit 19 at Orpholo Training Area, Georgia, August 1, 2019.

The UAV flew over training conducted throughout Orpholo Training Area for feedback about the training being conducted. This is the main function of the UAV AeroVironment RQ-11 Raven during this training, according to 1st Lt. Nicolas Dilan.

The UAV was included in training for the Marine Corps in order to gain flying experience in the field, and to teach soldiers from the Georgian Defense Force, the co-leader of exercise AgS19, about the RQ-11 Raven.

The four-man team gathered around a miniature helipad to launch the UAV. The team consisted of an air officer in charge of controlling air space, two operators for the drone, and a Georgian Soldier.

"We have our two RQ-11 Raven operators exchanging techniques and procedures with some of our Georgian counterparts," said Dilan. "An important part of being here is sharing our knowledge and that's what we intend to do."
