Flights To Offutt AFB

More than likely, you will be flying through Eppley Airfield, located about 11 miles from the base, since it is the closest airport to Offutt AFB. However, you might also be arriving through Lincoln Airport, located about an hour away in the city of Lincoln, Nebraska. From either airport you can grab Taxi and other car transportation services, such as Lyft and Uber, from the airport to the base.

Entering Offutt Air Force Base and Amenities

All drivers on base must have a valid military ID, veterans or retiree ID, a valid driver’s license, and a valid driver’s insurance card. Visitors who do not have official US Government identification must enter through one of two gates, the Kenney Gate and the STRATCOM Gate, both of which are open 24 hours. Photo identification, vehicle registration, and building number of your destination are required at the Visitor Center in order to obtain a Visitor Badge.

Check-in Procedures for Incoming Personnel

When arriving during normal duty hours, Monday through Friday, 0730-1630, report to the "Offutt Welcome Center" where you can arrange to meet your sponsor or get directions to your unit. Make sure to bring copies of your orders, all moving paperwork, all personnel records including dental and immunizations records, as well as all school records for any children. Make certain that you report in uniform and be aware that the in-processing procedure can take several days to complete.

Council Bluffs, Iowa is a short drive across the Missouri River. Although the city is across state lines, it’s only about 15 miles from Offutt AFB. There are a variety of local school districts available for children of those enlisted at Offutt AFB: Bellevue Public Schools, Papillion/LaVista School District, Omaha Public Schools, Plattsmouth Community Schools, Ralston Public Schools, Westside Community School District, and Millard Public Schools. Each of these districts and their schools educate children in grades kindergarten through 12.
