Lemay is a census-designated place in St. Louis County, named after Francois Lemai, who ran one of the few ferries back and forth across the Mississippi in the early 1800s. The population was 16,645 at the 2010 census.

Damaged by devastating flooding in 1993, the park was restored and improved with funds from the Federal Emergency Management Agency and the community. Park facilities, including pavilions and picnic areas, have been specifically designed to withstand future flooding.
The Pavilion at Lemay
Nestled in the southern part of Lemay, The Pavilion at Lemay is a joint effort between the St. Louis County Port Authority and St. Louis County Parks and Recreation. Its aquatic center features a deep water pool with slide, diving board, diving platform and climbing wall, lap lanes, wet deck area, lazy river and tot area and play structure. The complex also has a fitness center with 41,000 square feet of amenities, including a gymnasium/multipurpose athletic center, walking and jogging track, cardio and weight fitness room, group fitness room, locker rooms and childcare.
