Aurora Reservoir Activities

This beautiful reservoir is a wonderful weekend recreational spot for active-duty military members and their families. There are many different things to do in Aurora Reservoir:

• SUP and Kayak Rentals

Aurora Reservoir fishing is some of the best in the area, and the handy Aurora Reservoir fishing report will show that the water here grows the best fish. Four state records have been grown in these waters. This includes tiger muskies, catfish, smallmouth bass, and white suckers. Anyone who loves to fish is sure to enjoy this park! The Aurora Reservoir swim beach allows for fun swimming opportunities for families and military members. It’s open from Memorial Day to Labor Day. Lifeguards are on duty throughout the season, and the swim beach is marked by a swim line. Aurora Reservoir paddle boarding is also available from Memorial Day to Labor Day.* Here are some rules and regulations for paddle boarding you should be aware of:

• Rentals for kayaks and paddle boards are based on a first-come, first-served basis.
• You have to have a driver’s license to rent anything.
• Anyone under 13 years old cannot operate watercraft alone.
• Life jackets are required at all times.
• Renting a kayak or a paddle board is $20 an hour (including the life jacket). Renting just a life jacket is $10 per day.

*Aurora Reservoir weather determines whether rentals will be available. If the weather is poor, kayaks and paddle boards will not be rented out. Aurora Reservoir boat rental is open from 8:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m. until early August. The last kayak is allowed to leave at 4:00 p.m. but must return by 5:00 p.m. The 2022 fees are listed below:

*The reservoir park is closed on Thanksgiving, Christmas, and New Year’s Day. The gates open exactly when the park opens. They’re closed and locked exactly at closing. Make sure you leave before closing time to avoid getting locked in the park and running into an embarrassing situation with park officials!
