The Veterans Administration Medical Center (VAMC) is located in Lebanon, a small southeastern city that lies between Harrisburg and Reading. It is nestled in the Pennsylvania Dutch Country near Hershey, the chocolate capitol of the United States.

Directions
From Harrisburg Area to the VAMC
Take 322 East to 241 North and go 2.7 miles, turn right onto Rocherty Road, go three red lights, turn left onto Lincoln Avenue, go north for about six blocks; entrance to VA is on the right.

Turnpike 76 East to Lebanon/Lancaster Exit (266). Go 72 North then two red lights, at second light make right onto Rocherty Road, go two lights, then at second light make a left onto North Lincoln Avenue, go north six blocks; entrance to VA is on the right.

Services
Lebanon VAMC provides acute medical, surgical, and behavioral health care with intensive care unit (ICU) beds and acute care beds. Inpatient hospice care is provided, as well as nursing home care (both short and long stay) provided to inpatients with 136 nursing home care beds. The VAMC also offers a full range of home care and community services, including: home-based primary care, homemaker home health care, community residential care, adult day health care, and homeless veterans care.

Outpatient care includes primary care and specialty services care. New specialized diagnostic services (MRI and nuclear medicine) and the recent ICU/Urgent Care addition continue to enhance the ability of this ever growing, constantly improving facility to provide services. Lebanon VAMC is a teaching hospital, providing medical and surgical care in active affiliation with the Penn State University Medical School, based at the Milton S. Hershey Medical Center in nearby Hershey. More than 250 university fellows, residents, and student are trained the Lebanon VAMC each year. The Lebanon VAMC maintains 45 other academic affiliations in a wide variety of disciplines, offering training opportunities to more than 150 students annually.

The Lebanon VAMC research and development program includes studies in prostate cancer prevention and treatment of pediatric diseases. Other major areas of research include oncology, cardiovascular disease, and nephrology. A joint research lab (affiliated with Penn State School of Medicine) is located on the grounds of the Lebanon VAMC. The Lebanon VAMC also supports the Vet Center in Harrisburg, the Community-Based Outpatient Clinic in York and the National Cemetery at Fort Indiantown Gap.

Normal working hours are Monday through Friday , 8 a.m. to 4 p.m. In an effort to better serve the veteran and family members, the Vet Center will (upon request) provide services after normal work hours and/or on weekends.
