Visit Savannah Rapids Park, Home of the Savannah Rapids Pavilion

Augusta, GA, is filled with a long history and plenty to do, but if you’re looking to get outside, you’ll find it hard to beat enjoying a day at Savannah Rapids Park. It’s here where you’ll find a variety of recreational activities, venues, historical landmarks, and much more. Both the Historical Canal Headgates and Savannah Rapids Pavilion are located here, along with access to the Augusta Canal and beautiful views of the Reed Creek waterfall.

Rent the Savannah Rapids Pavilion

A Savannah Rapids Pavilion wedding is a beautiful southern tradition that brides, grooms, and their wedding guests are sure to enjoy. Your Savannah Rapids Pavilion rental doesn’t just have to be for weddings, however. You can enjoy this space and its features for any large event you’re planning.

There’s a dance pavilion, a dining hall, and a BBQ pit all available depending on your rental and event needs. The Historic Canal Headgates Buildings help bring a historical feel to your event, as the park has preserved these structures from the 1880s. Savannah Rapids Kayak Rental and Other Recreational Activities

There’s plenty to do at Savannah Rapids Park, even if you don’t need a venue for a large event. Visitors can enjoy fishing, grilling, walking/jogging trails, and picnicking, just to name a few of the options available. The Savannah Rapids Park is a 33-acre park that has provided the area with a recreational haven for over 150 years and features the Savannah Rapids, which leads to Lake Olmstead. Savannah Rapids kayak rentals are available, and visitors can also use the water for canoeing and paddle boarding.

The Augusta Canal Trail starts in the park but can take you as far as downtown Augusta, Georgia. There are bike rentals available, but the trail is also good for a run or walk. Playgrounds are available, too, which provide children with a great, safe space to stay active and socialize. On land or in the Savannah River, no matter how you enjoy the space, there’s plenty to do and see.

Directions to Savannah Rapids Pavilion and General Information

Getting to Savannah Rapids Park is easy. Just set your GPS to 3300 Evans to Locks Rd., Martinez, GA 30907. The Savannah Rapids Park is located only around 15 miles from Fort Gordon, making the venue and park both great options for military personnel and their families to enjoy. Savannah Rapids Park hours are from dawn to dusk, seven days a week.

The Lockkeeper’s Cottage is a visitor center showcasing information about the local area as well as Georgia as a whole. You can reach the center and enjoy its veranda overlooking the canal Monday through Saturday from 10:00 a.m. until 4:00 p.m.

As you can see, the Savannah Rapids Pavilion is a popular venue option for the area, but the park as a whole offers a lot to the local community. You can enjoy everyday recreation, mark special occasions, strengthen your exercise routine, or simply create new memories while getting outdoors. No matter the occasion, you’ll find something exciting to do with some of the best views in the Augusta region.
