With locations on all military installations, Armed Services YMCA offers deployment support programs, its award-winning after-school program Operation Hero, emergency financial assistance, Food for Families, Operation Kid Comfort and special events like father-daughter dances and summer camps. Please contact the branch nearest you for more information regarding these programs designed to help alleviate the stress associated with military life.

As its name implies, Marine & Family Programs is a community-based division of Marine Corps Community Services that supports the individual Marine or sailor and their families. With a knowledgeable and experienced staff of social workers, educators and specialists, Marine & Family Programs has something for everyone, from employment aid to education, counseling to child care.

The Camp H.M. Smith child development centers provide full-day care programs for children from 6 weeks to 5 years old from 5 a.m. to 7 p.m. Monday through Friday. Go to http://mcchawaii.com/cdc for more information.

Family Child Care

With locations on all military installations, Armed Services YMCA offers various high-quality, low-cost early learning programs, from Early Learning Readiness to Little Learners’ Playmorning to Parent Participation Preschool. Please contact the branch nearest you for more information regarding these exciting programs for children ages 0 to 5.

Certified Family Child Care providers can offer flexible hours and care within their base quarters for young children in response to changing parental needs. All providers undergo background checks, 40 hours of initial training coupled with ongoing education, and an initial home inspection followed by regular checks and continuing supervision. Education Center

Hours: noon to 4 p.m. Monday

The Education Center provides services for active-duty service members, family members, veterans and DOD civilians, including test preparation, tuition assistance, on-base colleges, education resources and more.

Youth Activities

Kulia Youth Center

The Kulia Youth Center in Building 6753, Lawrence Street, at Kanehoe Bay provides national programs for youths from 13 to 17 years old as a chartered Boys & Girls Club. The Kulia Youth Center is open 5 a.m. to 8 p.m. Monday through Friday for programs and activities, among them school-age care for children from kindergarten through sixth grade, day camps, the Teen Center, and classes and lessons.
