Black Butte Adventures
Black Butte Adventures is an 8-mile loop of hiking and single-track biking trail area on the Effertz Black Butte Acres Ranch near Sawyer, North Dakota. Black Butte Adventures not only hosts hiking and biking enthusiasts on its
542 acres, but family-based activities as well. The prairie is ideal for native flora and fauna lovers alike. A variety of wildlife can be spotted in early and late hours of the day near the creek. The main trail is 8 miles of grass/clay pack with two connected loops — one 5 miles and another 3-mile loop. There are two water crossings and several elevation climbs. Bottineau Winter Park
Bottineau Winter Park, in the Turtle Mountains, is one of the most beautiful areas of North Dakota. This family-friendly winter resort has something for everyone. Enjoy your day skiing, snowboarding or snow tubing on a wide variety of terrain from the beginner’s area to ungroomed expert glade runs and race courses. There is a full-service rental shop, six lifts to choose from and eight downhill trails. Certified instructors are available to teach all ability levels in both private and group lessons.
Golf is big in North Dakota. There are more courses per capita than in any other state and getting tee times is unbelievably easy. A variety of public and country club courses are available in Ward County, including the 18-hole Vardon Golf Club public course and Souris Valley municipal golf course. Nine-hole courses are also available, including Wildwood Golf Course and Rough Rider Golf Course. North Dakota has 125 golf courses to choose from. The Minot Minotauros are an American Tier II junior ice hockey team playing in the North American Hockey League. Many of the junior league players go on to compete at the collegiate or professional level. Catch one of their games at Maysa Arena.

The North Dakota Fair Center grandstand is a nearly half-mile dirt track used for Nodak Speedway stock car races. There are weekly points races from May through September, with additional events held throughout the summer. Nodak Speedway also offers stock car and hobby stock classes. Roosevelt Park Zoo

The Roosevelt Park Zoo is home to 89 species comprising more than 200 individual animals, including giraffes, red pandas, leopards, lions, donkeys, reindeer, goats and lemurs. In June 2011, the zoo was hit by a catastrophic flood. Every animal was evacuated, and the zoo was engulfed in water up to 8-feet deep for three weeks. Over 40 buildings and structures were flooded.
