NAVAL STATION NORFOLK

Naval Station Norfolk supports the operational readiness of the U.S. Atlantic Fleet, providing facilities and services to enable mission accomplishment. It is home to Commander, Naval Air Force, U.S. Atlantic Fleet and Commander, Navy Region Mid-Atlantic as well as the Defense Department’s largest supply center.
The naval station is in the southeastern corner of Virginia. The area is collectively known as Hampton Roads. Hampton Roads generally includes the cities of Newport News, Hampton, Norfolk, Portsmouth, Virginia Beach, Chesapeake and Suffolk, and is populated by more than 1.6 million people. Naval Station Norfolk is situated in the Sewells Point area of the city of Norfolk, near the site of the battle of the Monitor and Merrimac (CSS Virginia). It is the largest naval complex in the world.
