Information
Welcome to Fort Belvoir, a large Army base on the Potomac River in Fairfax County, Virginia. Fort Belvoir is home to over 145 mission partners, including the Defense Logistics Agency and the National Geospatial Intelligence Agency. Over 51,000 military and civilian employees provide support services to over 216,000 military, civilians, retirees, and families. Just 20 miles south of Washington, D.C., you will find rich history in a bustling city within reach. Nearby Alexandria offers much to do in Fort Belvoir's backyard. If you're just arriving on orders, enter through any one of many gates and check in with your command, unit, and or sponsor. If you have civilian visitors coming to see you, they will need to stop at the Visitor Control Center at the Tully Gate to register for their unaccompanied passes. Off-duty, you'll have plenty to do without leaving base. You'll find favorites like a round of golf, bowling, camping, and more. Alexandria offers ample recreational activities just outside the gates with restaurants, speakeasies, art, music, and so much more. Looking to get outside? Lake Accontink Park and the George Washington Mount Vernon Trail are a few local gems. Fort Belvoir has many resources available, so take advantage and enjoy your time at your new duty station.
