Critics are also pointing out the actions of politicians against Veterans, including Senate Republicans who blocked the PACT Act at first. The Center for Renewing America and other reports suggest significant budget savings, but Veterans' organizations argue that such measures are unjust.

Going to war for 20 years provides plenty of opportunities for troops to gain health issues as a result of service.
Unfortunately, after decades of fighting terrorism, ongoing conflicts around the world, and the passing of the PACT Act to help more Veterans, cuts may still occur.
Concerns span throughout the community but some experts point to marginalized segments of Veterans who may deal with negative consequences involving mental health and homelessness.
Even the U.S. government found that cutting VA disability benefits could affect these issues for Vets.

Veterans receive monthly, tax-free disability compensation for injuries, illnesses, or conditions connected to their military service that help cover their healthcare and living expenses once they return to the life of a civilian.
However, the misconception is that VA disability benefits are simply undeserved handouts Veterans can take advantage of—despite the extreme physical and mental tolls Veterans go through.
This includes exposure to toxins, the lasting effects of combat and training, time separated from their families, and of course, more extreme cases, such as losing limbs.
The Importance of VA Disability Benefits
Disability compensation covers essential costs, helping Veterans manage the challenges of living with service-related disabilities.
Qualifying for these VA disability benefits isn’t easy and there is proof that must be provided to show injuries or conditions are directly linked to serving in the military. It’s a complicated, demanding process.
As Veterans age, their service-connected conditions often worsen, increasing the need for medical care, highlighting why it’s so important to have these benefits available—41.4% of Veterans over the age of 64 are disabled, compared to 36.2% of civilians.
The quicker people receive care, the better it is not only for their quality of life, but it’s also cheaper to fix problems instead of letting them linger.
