About Davis-Monthan AFB
Davis-Monthan Air Force Base is located in Tucson, Arizona. It was named after native Tucson pilots Samuel Davis and Oscar Monthan, who both flew during World War I. The base’s most popular feature that a lot of people might recognize is the aircraft boneyard, officially called the Air Force Materiel Command’s 309th Aerospace Maintenance and Regeneration Group. In use since 1940, Davis-Monthan AFB houses a 13,600-foot runway and about 8,000 airmen and civilians who live and work on base.
