MCAS Miramar Child Care
hildcare is available through the Child Development Centers (CDC) on base and through Certified Child Development Homes (CCRR). The Regional Childcare Resource and Referral Office oversees the waitlist for the six centers located in Metro San Diego. The centers are located on Naval Base San Diego, Naval Base Point Loma, MCRD, MCAS Miramar, Naval Medical Center and Murphy Canyon housing area. The district’s educational facilities include 118 elementary schools, 24 middle schools, 29 high schools, 35 charter schools, and 15 atypical or alternative schools. The Poway Unified School District is located in the northern part of San Diego County. The district covers more than 100 square miles. The district’s schools are located in suburban San Diego and the more rural city of Poway. The Poway Unified School District 23 elementary schools (K-5), six middle schools (6-8), four comprehensive high schools (9-12), and one continuation high school. Twenty-three of the district’s schools are located in San Diego, while the remaining 11 are in Poway. It is the third-largest school district in the United States and serves around 33,000 students.
