The Sabalauski Air Assault School

Purpose of the Air Assault School: To train Soldiers in Air Assault operations, sling-load operations, and rappelling. Upon graduation of the course each Soldier will be able to perform skills required to make maximum use of helicopter assets in training and in combat to support their unit operations.

Purpose of the Pathfinder School: Army Pathfinders are trained to provide navigational aid and advisory services to military aircraft in areas designated by supported unit commanders. The Pathfinders’ secondary missions include providing advice and limited aid to units planning air assault or airdrop operations. During the Pathfinder course students are instructed in aircraft orientation, aero-medical evacuation, close combat assault, ground to air communication procedures, Control Center operations, all three phases of a sling load operation, Helicopter Landing Zone and Pick Up Zone operations, and Drop Zone operations (Computed Air Release Point, Ground Marker Release System, and Verbally Initiated Release System), dealing with U.S. military fixed and rotary wing aircraft for personnel and equipment.

Purpose of Rappel Master's Course: The course teaches the rappel master's mission, responsibilities, safety SOPs and regulations, anchor systems, equipment familiarization, inspection and maintenance, ground training / hook up, knots, seat inspection, tower refresher / rappelling, and aircraft rigging and control.

Purpose of FRIES/SPIES Master: This course teaches the FRIES and SPIES Master's mission, responsibilities, safety SOPs and regulations, anchor systems, equipment familiarization, inspection and maintenance, ground training, knots, tower training, and aircraft rigging and control. The core POI requires minimum support assets and is adaptable to organic aviation elements. Both the core instruction and the additional instruction are conducted in a classroom/field environment.

Parachute Demonstration Team Purpose: The Screaming Eagles are the Army's oldest Parachute Demonstration team having preformed demonstration jumps around the world since 1958. The team performs live aerial demonstrations in support of Army community relations and promote the United States Army through the sport of skydiving while representing the 101st Airborne Division (Air Assault) and its proud and unyielding airborne tradition.
