By Ian Kempf

The U.S. Army Rangers are one of the most elite, badass units in all of the military. Their roles in combat are reserved for the heaviest zones of contention. They lead Soldiers into the heat of battle and on difficult missions. To accomplish this task, rangers need to be the best of the best, ready to go against any kind of opposition that comes their way. Let’s take a closer look at what it takes to become a United States Army Ranger.

What Do United States Army Rangers Do?

A U.S. Army Ranger is an elite militaristic unit that specializes in hand-to-hand combat and direct-fire combat scenarios. Their role is paramount in many of the Army’s terrain based operations. The U.S. Army Rangers specialize in various operations, such as:

  • Forcible entry
  • Special reconnaissance
  • Special operations raids
  • Seizing enemy territory
  • Targeting strategic facilities
  • Eliminating enemies of the nation

On top of these operations, Army Rangers will be selected to lead small units, using their enhanced training know-how to accomplish the tasks set before them. It is this high-standing reputation that has long set apart the 75th Regiment from the rest of the Army.

What are the Army Rangers’ Requirements?

To become a United States Army Ranger, the applicant must first meet numerous prerequisites before they can be considered. These requirements include:

  • You must be a U.S. citizen.
  • Have an ASVAB placement test score of 105 or higher.
  • Meet physical fitness requirements by completing ACFT (Army Combat Fitness Test).

All of these must be met in order to even be considered. This is to ensure that the highest quality of candidates are available for the 75th Regiment to choose from.
