Presidio of Monterey Child & Youth Services support the readiness and well-being of families by reducing the conflict between military mission requirements and parental responsibilities.

PARENT CENTRAL SERVICES

The central enrollment and registration office is open 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. Monday through Friday. This office is in the General Stilwell Community Center, Building 4260, Gigling Road, Ord Military Community. All children and youth using any CYS program must be registered prior to participation. Children must be members of active-duty personnel, retired military, DOD civilians, or military reserve component service families on continuous active duty or active duty for training. A valid ID card, two emergency contacts, current leave and earning statement, and immunization records are required to register a child. FAMILY CHILD CARE PROGRAM

The Family Child Care office is open 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. Monday through Friday. The office is in the General Stilwell Community Center, Building 4260, Gigling Road, Ord Military Community. Family Child Care, commonly referred to as FCC, offers a home-based alternative to center-based programs. Anyone who provides child care in government quarters (more than 10 child hours per week) is required to be certified through this program. The FCC staff maintains a registry of homes to provide assistance to parents seeking FCC services for children 4 weeks through 12 years old. Call 831-242-5820 for more information.

CHILD DEVELOPMENT CENTER

The Monterey Road Child Development Center is open 6:30 a.m. to 6 p.m. Monday through Friday. The center is in Building 7693, Ord Military Community. Children 6 weeks old through 5 years old are accepted. The Monterey Road Child Development Center is accredited by the National Association for the Education of Young Children. Its programs include full-day, part-day and hourly care for infants, toddlers, preschoolers and prekindergarteners. Children begin to learn about themselves, their families and their community at an early age. The Monterey Road Child Development Center strives through art, music, field trips, stories and games to enhance this natural learning. This “total child” approach is designed to have a positive effect on all participating children.

PORTER YOUTH CENTER

Out-of-school care, sports and social, recreational and leisure activities are provided for eligible families at Porter Youth Center. The center is in Building 4283, on the corner of Normandy Road and General Jim Moore Boulevard, Ord Military Community. The School-Age Services program is accredited by the National Afterschool Association, offering quality care of school-aged children during all out-of-school hours. The middle school and teen program provides activities for children in sixth through 12th grade. Care is available during schools breaks from 6:30 a.m. to 6 p.m. Monday through Friday. The Teen Center hours are 3 to 8 p.m. Monday, Tuesday and Thursday, 1 to 8 p.m. Wednesday, 3 to 10 p.m. Friday and noon to 6 p.m. Saturday. The middle school and teen program and Teen Center is open for before-school care at 6:30 a.m. for a small fee. After-school activities are free.

YOUTH SPORTS AND FITNESS

The Youth Sports and Fitness program offers the following activities:

• Youth Soccer League for boys and girls ages 4 to 13. Program begins in August and ends in November.
• Youth Basketball League for boys and girls ages 6 to 13. Program begins in December and ends in March.
• Youth Baseball and Softball League for boys and girls ages 4 to 12. Program begins in February and ends in June.
• Youth Track and Field Team for boys and girls ages 5 to 14. Program begins in April and ends in June.

Seasonal skill clinics and mini camps for participants and coaches are offered prior to the beginning of each season. The program is also developing individual skill-building programs, such as youth golf or tennis. Volunteer coaches and clinicians are needed for all activities.
