Where Is Fort Campbell, Kentucky?

Fort Campbell

1 (270) 798-9467 Fort Campbell is a U.S. Army post straddling the Kentucky-Tennessee border. Nashville airport is the only airport close to Fort Campbell and there are no post sponsored transportation options, so be sure to keep your receipts if your travel is reimbursable.

Driving Directions to Fort Campbell

Several signs are posted to show directions to ACS and Replacement Company. Pay attention to the road signs as there are several providing directions to Kalsu and the ACS building. For assistance with Fort Campbell, Kentucky directions, contact Army Community Service, Information and Referral at 1 (270) 798-9322 or 1 (270) 956-2935. The office is open from Monday to Friday 0730 to 1600 Closed on weekends and federal holidays.

Note:

The only gates that are open 24/7 are gate 4, gate 7, and gate 10.

If Driving Interstate 70 Eastbound

  1. Continue on I-70 onto I-64 east through Illinois
  2. Exit I-64 east to I-57 south
  3. Exit I-57 South to I-24 East
  4. Take Exit 86 on I-24 to US Route 41A South towards Fort Campbell
  5. Continue on US Route 41A South for about 4.2 miles to Fort Campbell, Gate 4

Directions From Gate 4 to Kalsu Replacement Company

  1. When you enter gate 4, go through the main intersection between Screaming Eagle Blvd and Bastogne Ave.
  2. After the first set of lights continue on Screaming Eagle until you come to the 4th set of lights (Wickham Ave intersection).
  3. Go through the lights and turn right at the next lights onto Desert Storm.
  4. Kalsu Replacement is located on the left hand side of Desert Storm right across from the La Pointe Health Clinic.

Directions From Gate 1 to Army Community Service

  1. 1501 William C. Lee Rd
  2. When you enter gate 1, go through the roundabout
  3. Turn right onto Bastogne Ave.
  4. The main ACS building is located on the right-hand side of Bastogne Ave.

Directions From Gate 4 to Army Community Service

  1. When you enter gate 4 make a left turn onto Bastogne Ave.
  2. Continue on Bastogne Ave - through the next set of lights.
  3. Continue going straight.
  4. Before you come to the Stop sign at the end of the road.
  5. Turn left into the parking lot, where the main ACS Building is located.

Nashville International Airport

There is no shuttle service from the Nashville airport. Below are public transportation options. Always keep receipts if your travel will be reimbursed.

Directions from Nashville International Airport to Fort Campbell:

  1. Start out going South on Terminal Dr
  2. Continue toward arriving flights / departing flights
  3. Merge onto I-40 W toward Nashville I-65 / I-24
  4. Keep right to take I-24 W via exit 211B toward Clarksville / I-65 North / Louisville
  5. Keep left to take I-24 W via exit 88B toward Clarksville
  6. Take exit 86 US-41Alt toward Hopkinsville/Fort Campbell
  7. Turn left onto US-41A South/Fort Campbell Blvd at the light
  8. 4.2 miles from here turn right to gate 4 (main gate)
  9. Look for directional signs for gate numbers to enter the installation. There are 10 gates to Fort Campbell.

If you have never been on a post or don’t have a valid ID, you may need to stop at the Visitor Center to check-in. Click here for more information on hours, document requirements (registration, insurance, license), and directions. There are two entry points where you can do this. Contact Visitor Control Centers for additional information at 1 (270) 798-5047.

Check-in Procedures for Incoming Personnel

All Soldiers reporting to Fort Campbell must do so at the 1st Lt. J. Robert Kalsu Replacement Company (20th Replacement) with DA Form 31, PCS Orders, Personnel File (201), medical records and dental records. You can check in 24/7 but if you check in between 5:30 a.m. and 5:00 p.m. you must be in the Army Combat Uniform.

Everyone, regardless of rank or marital status, is recommended to report to the housing services office (HSO) before signing any leases or agreements off post. The staff are professionally trained to facilitate your housing needs, both on and off base.

      Cities Near Fort Campbell

      Fort Campbell is nearly equidistant from Hopkinsville, Kentucky and Clarksville, Tennessee. The major metropolitan areas near Fort Campbell where you will find off-post housing are Hopkinsville, KY to the north and Clarksville, TN to the south. Depending on where your work is on post, you may want to consider the access gates and traffic to choose the best location.

      If you’d like a little more distance, you can consider Sango or Woodlawn, TN. No matter where you choose to live, we know you’ll be happy there while you call Fort Campbell home.

      Hopkinsville

      Hopkinsville, Kentucky is about 30 minutes north of Fort Campbell and home to over 30,000 residents. The city is home to many local businesses as well as Fortune 500 companies and offers a range of industries in services and manufacturing. With a total of fifteen schools in the city’s district, there are plenty of off-post options for your children’s education. The city itself is also the site of some great museums, historical landmarks, and even some famous alleged alien encounters.

      Clarksville

      Clarksville, Tennessee is about 30 minutes south of Fort Campbell and home to nearly 160,000 residents. It is the fifth largest city in the state, but growing rapidly. Jimi Hendrix had his start here, and there is a lot to explore in terms of art, culture, and local businesses. From a colonial village to a restored train station, there are some wonderful historical sites to enjoy here. And with 39 public schools in the district, you’ll be sure to find the perfect one for your kid(s) while stationed here.

      During your stay in Fort Campbell, you can expect both hot, muggy summer days and colder, wetter winter days. Temperatures year round vary between about 30 – 90 degrees Fahrenheit. Below are some more details, but be sure to plan ahead by checking the weather before your move.

      The warm weather season goes from the end of May to mid-September, peaking in the third week of July.

      The cold season stretches from late November to late February, the coldest being late January.

      Rainy season varies, but is typically found between March and August.

      Humidity can be extreme at Fort Campbell depending on the time of year. The muggiest period of the year is mid-May to late September, during the hottest times of the year. Be sure to hydrate and plan ahead.
