Kissing camels in the mountains may sound like an odd Disney cartoon subplot, but it's exactly what you’ll see when visiting the Garden of the Gods in Colorado Springs, CO… well, kind of. You see, there’s a local rock formation that’s a dead ringer for what has just been described showing that nature can have a pretty funny side from time to time if you have the right imagination.
The famous rocks are a great place for locals and visitors alike to take in the quirky sight as well as enjoy a bit of recreation and adventure. The hike is pretty easy, but you’ll still want to plan accordingly, taking every safety precaution you normally would and respecting local laws and posted regulations. Get ready for a unique adventure to a fun rock formation that'll provide you with plenty of exercise yet not overwork you in the process.

The Kissing Camels Nature Trail is a looped trail right outside of the Colorado Springs area. Unfortunately, while you can enjoy this feature, it’s located within a gated community, so to do so, you’ll need to either live within the community or befriend someone who does. Those who take on this trail can expect to hike 1.4+ miles and will usually complete it in under 40 minutes. Dogs are allowed, but they must be on a leash.How High Is Kissing Camels?
Located around 25 minutes from Fort Carson, Kissing Camels sits at an elevation of 6,611 feet near the Tower of Babel with proximity to White Rock. This increase in elevation provides an interesting feature for the nearby golf course that uses the local beauty as its backdrop.27 Challenging Holes Await
The Kissing Camels Golf Course at the Garden of the Gods Resort is a course open to the public that provides its guests with 27 holes of challenging, beautiful play. You’ll find the course at 4500 Kissing Camels Dr., Colorado Springs, CO 80904, available year-round at the following times:- November through April, the course is open every day from 10:00 a.m. until 5:00 p.m.
- April through October tee times may be placed from 8:30 a.m. through 6:30 p.m.
- Thanksgiving and Christmas Eve still allow players access from 9:00 a.m. until 3:00 p.m.
- The course is closed on Christmas Day.
Kissing Camels Is a Photo and Family-Friendly Experience
The entire area is great for avid golfers looking for fun, but the best way to experience the rock formation is actually from afar. You’ll want to travel north on Juniper Way Loop. From there, you can see the formation to the left. It’s a known hotspot without being overly touristy and provides a great way to get your kids involved, outside, and having fun as the entire family searches for the Kissing Camels. This is also a great spot to get the perfect picture for Instagram to show off your adventure or simply save the wonderful memory made with your loved ones for years to come.Read next:
