If you’re familiar with the layout of the post, you can find the museum just across the road from Weikel Elementary School. Take the first exit at the roundabout after entering through Fort Carson Gate 1, and the Fort Carson military museum will immediately be on your right. Hours for the museum are pretty simple; they’re open Monday through Saturday from 0900 to 1630, and admission is free. As par for the course, they’re also closed on all federal holidays. But with six days of full hours, you can plan a trip with ease! The museum itself covers the history of the 4th Infantry Division starting in 1917 and moving all the way up to the present. They have artifacts, documents, photos, equipment, and more all related to the 4th Infantry Division’s service. One of their most popular displays is the Medal of Honor wall, which shows images and names of all the troops from the division who’ve gained a Medal of Honor. The 4th Infantry Division Museum, also known as the 4ID Museum, covers all the major wars that the division has taken part in. For example, 4th Infantry Division WW2 contributions were huge. They were the first American unit to land on Utah Beach during the D-Day invasions. 4th Infantry Division Vietnam contributions were also massive, and they’re highlighted in the 4ID Museum, too. The unit served for four years during the war at Camp Enari, Pleiku, Vietnam.
