The American Tattoo Society is a highly rated tattoo studio, and now there’s one on MacDill Air Force Base in Tampa, Florida. With the military recently changing some of their uniform regulations and tattoo policies, having tattoo studios on military bases is pretty exciting. The location on MacDill Air Force Base is the second tattoo studio that has been allowed to exist and operate on a military base.

About the American Tattoo Society

The American Tattoo Society prides themselves on their customer service and ensuring that you feel comfortable when getting your tattoo. They consistently have counter staff who are there to take care of any questions customers may have. They also provide pricing over the phone or online, which is often unusual for tattoo studios, but they’re aware of how tight a schedule and budget that military customers may have. The American Tattoo Society is also known for being one of the highest-rated tattoo shops in Florida, and they’re ready to give the Airmen of MacDill Air Force Base the best experience they could ask for. Each artist employed at the shop has their own individual style and has extensive experience under their belt. The studio is located right across from the food court and Class Six package store on the base.

Can You Have Tattoos in the Air Force?

The Air Force does allow you to have tattoos as long as they follow the Air Force tattoo regulations. If you’re thinking about joining the military and are also thinking about getting a tattoo, make sure you carefully consider the placement of your tattoo. The Air Force tattoo policy is strict, only allowing tattoos with no size limitations on the chest, arms, legs, and back. However, there are size and placement limitations for tattoos on the head, face, neck, lips, tongue, and scalp. You’re allowed to have a hand tattoo, but it’s limited to just one ring tattoo on one finger.

Air Force Tattoo Ideas

Military tattoos often have a lot of significance and express the bravery and sacrifices of service members. An Air Force tattoo is considered to be a powerful method of expression, as they often portray emotional associations and experiences from an Airman’s military career. Much different from tattoos associated with other branches of the military, there’s a large variety of Air Force tattoos that both Airmen and patriotic civilians like to sport. Air Force medals and badges are a common choice for a tattoo. If an Airman gets a badge tattooed on themselves, it shows how proud they are of their service to their country. Some other tattoos in the Air Force that are expressive of an Airman’s bravery and sacrifices are listed below.
  • Old-school dogfighter
  • Shark-mouth fighter
  • Fighter jet and wing
  • Nation mascot
  • Cloudy skies
  • Eagle with freedom tattoo
  • Airman in cockpit
The American Tattoo Society on MacDill Air Force Base allows for more of an opportunity for Airmen to express their bravery and pride in serving their country through tattoos. If you make an appointment at the shop, you may even find the best tattoo artist in Florida that matches your ideal style of tattoo.
