At Fort Leonard Wood, military family housing is privatized. In addition to your option to purchase and rent housing in the local community, you may choose to live in privatized housing by signing a tenant lease agreement with Fort Leonard Wood Homes by Balfour Beatty Communities, which owns the family housing and is responsible for constructing, maintaining, repairing, and managing the community. Fort Leonard Wood's military family housing communities offer a variety of house styles and floor plans. Neighborhoods feature community centers, playgrounds, splash parks, picnic areas, sports courts, and more. School-age children living in Fort Leonard Wood military housing attend schools in the Waynesville R-VI School District. There are no DOD schools on post.
