Welcome to your new home at Fort Polk in Louisiana. Fort Polk is home to the Joint Readiness Training Center. We hope that this guide is a valuable resource for you as you settle into your new living arrangements in the Fort Polk housing communities. You’ll be situated in an area rich in culture and history. There’s plenty of outdoor activities for you to enjoy in the surrounding area. Fort Polk has more than 105,000 acres designated as a wildlife management area. You will also be near the Kisatchie National Forest, featuring over 600,000 acres of Louisiana wilderness. You’ll be sure to find an adventure waiting for you at your new posting.

Fort Polk Barracks

Fort Polk has 1+1 quarters on post. Single E-5s and below are required to reside on post in the barracks. All single soldiers in grades E-1 through E-5 must report to Building 1635, Warriors Keep, on Alabama and Louisiana Avenue. It is open 24/7. Soldiers who are six months pregnant may get a Certificate of Non-Availability for BAH at the without dependent rate to live off the installation or in privatized quarters. Each community center features staff offices, a club room, a media room, a fitness center, a playroom, locker rooms, meeting rooms, and an outdoor pool. Fort Polk Family Homes

The military housing at Fort Polk is privatized and operated by Corvias Property Management. The neighborhoods at Fort Polk were created with families in mind. The three distinct neighborhoods are ideal for families of all shapes and sizes. There are several home styles featured in each community ranging from two to five-bedroom housing. You’ll enjoy many amenities at the Fort Polk housing communities. And each home has easy access to playgrounds, picnic areas, and four highly rated Community Centers. You’ll also have the benefit of around the clock maintenance, commercial lawn care, quarterly pest control, garbage, and recycling collection. If your family has school-aged children, Fort Polk is within the Vernon Parish and Beauregard Parish districts. There are no government-run schools on post, but there are two elementary schools at Fort Polk run by the Vernon Parish School District.

Note:

Even though some villages may include all ranks, only certain units within that village may be available to certain ranks. Always plan ahead and check availability based on rank and waiting lists (typically, you should get on waiting lists 90 days ahead of your move) through the Fort Polk Housing Service.

1. Dogwood Terrace

Ranks

: All ranks Dogwood Terrace has two, three, four, and five-bedroom family homes that nestle near creeks and extensive natural areas. Parks are scattered throughout the neighborhood, with two large main parks accompanied by several smaller ones. There’s even a recently added dog park. The homes of Dogwood Terrace are fully equipped with a refrigerator, stove, and dishwasher. Some of the homes have garbage disposals and ice makers installed. There are also full-size washer/dryer hookups. Corvias is also constructing some new homes in the neighborhood. Dogwood Terrace is near North Polk Elementary School.

2. Maple Terrace

Ranks

: E1-E5, O1-O7, W1-W5 In Maple Terrace, you will have options from two or three-bedroom housing ranging from 1074 to 1583 square feet. The Maple Terrace homes are currently going through a full interior remodel to modernize their styles. The community itself is located at the northernmost point of Fort Polk. Maple Terrace offers its community a wide range of activities and neighborhood amenities. There’s an Acadian style luxury facility that is open to all Army families living on post at Fort Polk. The amenities there include a club room, media room, fitness room, computer lab, laundry facility, Olympic size swimming pool, and another smaller pool perfect for the smaller kids. There are now 15 new playgrounds ideal for the little ones to stay active and entertained. Housing amenities in Maple Terrace include a refrigerator, stove, and dishwasher. Select homes have garbage disposals. There are also full-size washer/dryer hookups.

3. Palmetto Terrace

: E1-E9, W1-W3, O1-O3 The homes of Palmetto Terrace have gone under extensive renovation since their construction in the 1970s. Newer homes have also been built that have sleek designs and amenities any family would need. The homes range from two to five bedrooms. In Palmetto Terrace, you will be conveniently located near South Polk Elementary School, the library, the commissary, and many walking trails. The neighborhood also features many playgrounds and a community pool. Just down the street, you’ll find a commercial shopping center with a wide range of fast food choices. Palmetto Terrace features homes with amenities that include a refrigerator, dishwasher, and stove with washer and dryer hookups included.
