Introduction

Welcome to NAS Fallon! This premiere training base is located an hour east of Reno, Nevada and only a 6 hour drive from the famous Las Vegas strip. Located in Churchill County, Naval Air Station Fallon is home to the legendary Naval Fighter Weapons School better known as TOPGUN. Over 3,000 active duty personnel, civilian employees and DoD contractors enjoy a high quality of life that is enhanced by the numerous facilities on base and by those within the surrounding areas. Churchill County's population is approximately 25,516 with the city of Fallon's population at approximately 9,327. PCSing may seem overwhelming, but it doesn’t have to be. Where Is NAS Fallon?

NAS Fallon is part of the Navy Region Southwest located in Churchill County, Nevada. Located approximately 5 miles away from the town of the same name, Naval Air Station Fallon is located in the high desert of Nevada in the Lahontan Valley. This military base is considered remote duty. NAS Fallon is roughly 70 miles from the nearest major airport (Reno-Tahoe International) and is six hours from Las Vegas. Nearby Reno is only an hour away.

Reno-Tahoe International Airport Transportation

If you are flying into the Reno-Tahoe International Airport, you need to contact your Sponsor at least two to three days prior to arrival, and make arrangements to be picked up. The airport is about an hour and a half, one way, from Naval Air Station Fallon. If you have not made prior arrangements, you can call 775-426-8257. There will no longer be a base Duty Driver. Departments and Tenant Commands will be required to provide for their personnel (TAD, PCS, etc.) as needed. The taxi fare to Naval Air Station Fallon from the Reno-Tahoe airport will exceed $100.00, which is only reimbursable in certain circumstances.

Driving Directions To NAS Fallon

NAS Fallon is located approximately seven miles southeast of the community of Fallon. The main highways passing through the town are U.S. Highways 50 and 95. Both provide easy access to the air station. Simply follow the signs to NAS Fallon off the main roads. Interstate 80 is approximately 30 miles from Fallon and is accessible from either Highway 95 or Alternate 50.
From Reno-Tahoe International Airport
The closest airport to NAS Fallon is Reno-Tahoe International Airport which is located approximately 70 miles from the base. There is no military shuttle service to NAS Fallon. New arrivals are directed to contact their sponsor for transportation for help locating a ride from the airport to the base. Commercial taxis, shuttle buses, or other on-the-economy transport is available but the cost of getting from the airport to the base may approach $100. Be sure to document any such expenses and save all receipts for filing in a travel voucher.

1.Take I-80 East to the Fernley/Fallon exit (#48) veer right, continue through 1 light, over bridge and at the round-about make ¾ circle onto Alternate US-50. Alternate US-50 will take you directly into Fallon. In Fallon, US-50 turns into Williams Avenue. Continue down Williams to Taylor Street (US-95 south) Turn right onto Taylor Street. Approximately 5 miles out of town turn left on Union Lane. Proceed east to Pasture Road. Turn left onto Pasture Road; the main gate will be approximately 1/4 mile on your right. 2. Take US-95 North and turn right onto Union Lane. (Sign points to NAS Fallon). Continue down Union Lane to Pasture Road and turn left. The main gate will be approximately 1/4 mile on your right. Currently, there is no base transportation on this installation.

Guards will conduct a 100% ID check at all gates. All visitors must have a valid military ID or proceed to the visitor control center for a pass.

Check-in Procedures for Incoming Personnel

Sailors reporting to Naval Air Station Fallon must check in at the NAS Fallon Administration Office, Building 350, upon arrival. All calls after normal working hours should be made to the NAS Fallon Command Duty Officer cell phone at 1 (775) 848-5931. Personnel checking in or out of the command on PCS or temporary additional duty orders after normal hours should be directed to Central Billeting, Building 354. Front desk personnel will endorse your orders and log the arrival/departure. Make sure to submit a proper leave request prior to taking permissive leave for a house-hunting trip. The next step is to stop by the Administration Office, located in Building 350, for processing in. You can expect the check-in process to take several days. Make sure you have contacted your sponsor prior to your arrival. Once you arrive with family members, you will be screened at the Administration Office for entitlement of up to 10 days of Temporary Lodging Allowance/Expense.

NAS Fallon Gate Hours

NAS Fallon has three access points, and sits on the east side of Fallon, NV. The Main Gate is open 24 hours. South Gate is open three times a day, M-F: Inbound only, 0600-0830; In & Out, 0830-1200 and 1400-1700. The West Gate is for CVI traffic only, no POVs permitted access. The NAS Fallon Pedestrian Gate is open M-F, 0600-2000.
