Camp Allen Norfolk VA Housing: 4 On-Base Options (2021 Edition)

Introduction

Welcome to your new home at Camp Allen, located in Norfolk, Virginia. Home to both Marine Corps Forces Command (MARFORCOM) and Marine Corps Security Forces Regiment (MCSFR), Camp Allen is considered the southern annex of Naval Station Norfolk–the largest naval station in the world. This 15-acre facility was once known as Camp Elmore and began as a Navy builders (Seabee) training site. The on-base options in this small community are limited, but housing resources are provided by Naval Station Norfolk that services the larger base around Camp Allen.

We hope this guide is a valuable resource for you as you settle into your new living arrangements in the Camp Allen housing communities. You’ll find that your new home is surrounded by a charming port city located next to the Chesapeake Bay.

For unaccompanied personnel, Camp Allen uses the Housing Service Center and lodging of Naval Station Norfolk. Unaccompanied housing is available to pay grades E1-E3 and, depending on availability, E-4s as well. For unaccompanied personnel of rank E-4 and higher, they may find housing in the local community. All single service members must report to the UH Housing Service Center (HSC) front desk in building O22.

Units include a full kitchen, stackable washer, and dryer, 26 inch TV, with two bedrooms and two baths for four residents. Common spaces are located at building X1 with cable TV and WIFI. Each room is cleaned, maintained, and fully furnished. Smoking is allowed only in designated areas, and there are no pets allowed in the barracks.

The Unaccompanied Housing facilities strive to provide a personal residence that creates a comfortable, functional, and well-maintained home with a mission to take pride in the community.

Lincoln Military Housing

Each neighborhood and rental house, duplex, or apartment comes with a set of amenities that will make you feel right at home. Each residence is also pet friendly with a 2 pet maximum for dogs and cats, although certain breed restrictions apply.

Community amenities include playgrounds, parks, picnic areas, and walking paths. The base cafe, gym, and pool are located nearby as well. Applying here is similar to living in the local community. You will sign a tenant lease agreement, typically for a one-year term. Your lease will include a military clause and a lease termination clause. Rent is paid by authorizing an allotment of your BAH that is paid directly to the property manager.

If your family has school-aged children, the housing on base has many options for schooling. For those living off base, you will send students to a district appropriate based on location so it is important to research schools in the area before making a housing decision.
